All Jura’s will need this!

All Jura coffee machines will need to be serviced every few years. If left unaddressed, you’ll eventually get an error 8, which means the machine is totally bound and will be unusable. It is always best to service the machine before it gets to this point. You may hear more noise and a labored movement of the brew unit during coffee making. The Jura brew unit is not owner serviceable. That means you need to have it serviced every several years to keep your machine producing good coffee and espresso.

Over time, with thousands of coffees made, the o-rings go bad and the lubrication is gone. The motor can no longer move the brew unit properly. You lose crema and a properly expressed drink. Also wet coffee grounds accumulate in and around the brew unit and inside your machine. This creates a machine that is a mess with dried and oftentimes moldy unsanitary parts (pictured above).

When we service the brew unit it is removed from the machine and completely torn down into over 30 pieces (pictured below). It is completely cleaned then all o-rings are replaced, food grade grease is applied to lubricate where needed and the unit is reassembled.

Before the unit is reinstalled the entire inside of the machine is also cleaned with Ka-Kleen coffee cleaner that leaves no odor behind for the fresh and pure taste of coffee. It then gets reassembled and fully tested.

Tip: We have found KaKleen to be the best cleaner to get rid of coffee stains and to clean your machine.

Jura makes many types of automatic coffee machines, from small micro units that take little space on your counter, to large units designed for offices. They also make two versions of some models so you can choose what fits your needs and desires in a semi automatic coffee machine. I recently had an E8 and a We8 in for servicing. The machines function basically the same but their capacities are much different. The E8 has a 64 oz water container and a 10 ounce coffee bean capacity. The We8 has a whopping 101 ounce water tank capacity and will hold 17.7 ounces of coffee beans. Size can matter. Larger machines are well suited for small to medium offices, having a 30 cup per day rating. This makes the We8 ideal for small to medium-sized offices. But don’t rule the larger machines out for home use! I am presently using a XJ9 with a one gallon water capacity and one pound bean hopper. The drudge container and drip tray are also large so I can brew 20 or more coffees before emptying, which is very convenient. If you are comparing these two machines you can’t go wrong with either. Jura machines are known for producing the finest high-pressure-brewed coffee, expresso, cappuccino and lattes, cup by cup.
Oily Beans Harm Machines

Oily beans are harmful to your machine. They clog up your machine. Oil will build up in your grinder, brew unit, causing the machine to need service. Systems of a clogged up machine are weak coffee and weak coffee stream output.
Keeping your Jura clean
By Michael Wantz 22 Jun, 2020
Keeping you machine clean will prevent issues and need for repair. We recommend using purified water. If you are using a filter, change it when your machines tells you to. If you choose not to use a filter, it's important to descale the machine periodically, which will prevent your heating until from corroding and needing possible replacement.
